When Blast Entertainment and B&C Truck Centre combine to launch Merrittville Speedway’s 2013 Championship Chase on Saturday May 4th – not only will the Event kick off the 62nd Season … it will kick off the 2nd season of the B&C Truck Centre Mack Canada Driver of the Week Program.
“With the new look Driver of the Week Awards we look forward to working with B&C Truck Centre and Mack Canada once again,” revealed (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “with their support … the Performer of the Year will be presented a custom award at the year end banquet.”
With the new involvement with the Niagara Region’s Mack full service and parts dealer – the B&C Truck Centre Driver of the Week Awards will now lead to the overall Performer of the Year.
At each and every 2013 Event - a team of Merrittville Speedway Officials picks his or her choice on who they think should be declared Driver of the Week. The following week that driver will be acknowledged just prior to race time.
driver from any of the Thorold track’s 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions – the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds … Rick’s Delivery Sportsman ... Hoosier Stocks … J& S Heating & Air Conditioning Mod Lites and the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders can be named a Driver of the Week – provided that they receive the most votes that particular week.
While there can be a different Driver of the Week each week during the season – votes that a particular driver receives each week for that award are recorded and now go towards Performer of the Year voting.
Simply put - the driver from any division that receives the most overall points will be named the B&C Truck Centre/Mack Canada Performer of the Year. Technically – the recipient could be a driver that was never a Driver of the Week – provided that he or she received the most points week in and week out over the course of the season.

he Blast Entertainment, B&C Truck Centre & Mack Canada Event Saturday May 4th finds the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders, J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and Hoosier Stocks in their first races of the season – joining the Rick’s Delivery Sportsman and Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds who already got their start in the Seaway Mall Spring Sizzler.
