Merrittville’s first Holiday Doubleheader opens with Tri
358 Modified Opener on Welland and
Erie Timber Marts Night
With the type of winter that we have all endured … the excitement has been building for some time for the 2014 racing season to get started. If you are looking to get started on a build this spring or summer – you will want to meet the friendly and knowledgeable staff from the Welland and Fort Erie Timber Marts when they present Saturday May 17th’s Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Event that kicks off the new Tri Track Series for the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds.
“For a first time event presenter … we are excited to welcome the Welland and Fort Erie Timber Marts,” said (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “and we think our fans and drivers will too as they have some draws planned … T Shirts to give away and they are set to add some bonus money to the night’s purse.” May 17th, the Opener of the 6 Race Tri Track Series will provide the Thorold DIRTcar facilities drivers one last chance to prepare for Monday May 19th’s 100 lap 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Main Event.
Round 2 of the Mini-Series is set for Saturday August 9th’s Meridian Credit Union Night. Humberstone and Ransomville Speedways will also host two Series Events. “The former Lucas Oil Shoot Out is something that has been missing from all of our schedules,” added Bicknell-Jones, “ the Tri Track Series for the 358 Modifieds as well as the Sportsman … will soon be on to see which driver comes out on top and to what track they call home …the end result … exciting racing action at each facility!”
In addition to the 358 Modified Tri Track Series Event presented by Van Raine Construction and VP Race Fuels, the Welland and Fort Erie Timber Mart Night will also feature the Rick’s Delivery Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lite and Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Divisions.
“We are extremely excited to start building an annual event,” remarked (Welland and Fort Erie Timber Mart GM) Jake den Hollander, “we are aware of the commitment everyone has made in the sport at Merrittville from the owners … to the race teams and the race fans. Anything we can do to help is our pleasure.”
