Smalls hope to encourage your interest in racing as sponsors of new V6 Division

66 seasons of Saturday Nights at Merrittville Speedway have helped create numerous stories of the generations of families that have shared a passion for Dirt track racing.

One such story will have a new chapter in 2018 as the Smalls – James and his son Dave and their company Dave’s Auto and Speed Centre will be Title Sponsors of the new V6 Division.

“If you’ve been watching racing on TV or from the Grandstands and have thought you might like to give racing a try … the V6 Division is perfect for you.” said Dave Small, “we’re excited to help people give racing a try in an affordable fun class.”

In announcing the new addition to the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series line up late October, Merrittville Owner Don Spiece said, “The V6 Engine is one of the most produced and it’s time to power up a new entry level division with it,” adding, “the new division will use street cars with safety modifications – everything else is stock as you found it … the new division will let drivers make an impact on the sport without making an impact on their finances.”

Dave’s Auto & Speed Centre is a family owned and operated business that since 1988 has featured unbeatable labor rates that make service and repairs affordable for the average working family. A division of New Tire Wholesalers located at 11 Seapark Drive in St. Catharines has six bays and the latest in automotive service equipment providing complete automotive service and performance/off road parts sales and installation.

Dave’s Auto & Speed Centre also specialize in tires and rims, E-Bikes in addition to ATV and Dirt Bike sales and service.

Weekend Motorsports – another branch of the company supplies race parts and safety equipment to local racers in addition to fabricating, welding and repairs for competitors racing in divisions including 4 Cylinder, Street Stock, Sportsman and 358 Modifieds in addition to the new V6 Class.

The Smalls have been involved in racing since 1978 when James got his start in the former Bomber Division before Dave began Kart Racing at a young age. Since then, the two have built and owned race cars for a number of drivers through 4 Cylinder, Street Stock, Sportsman and 358 Modified Divisions.

Success came rather close together as Dave would earn a 4 Cylinder Championship at Merrittville in 2006. James would accomplish the same honor in 2007 at Humberstone. Dave was also named 358 Modified Rookie of the Year in 2012 at Merrittville.

In the off season, there’s no break from racing as Dave is an accomplished Slot Car Racer.
