13th KART SEASON AT MERRITTVILLE FEATURES MONDAY MID WEEK SPECIAL

Thorold, Ontario …. Merrittville Speedway Officials are deep in the planning stages for the Tuesday Night Kart Weekly Racing Series Tentative Schedule and while 18 events will make up the Overall Points Races – a non point Mid Season Monday night will also highlight the 13th season.

“ Last year’s Performance Manufacturing Slack Performance Karts initial event was a real success,”  relates (GM) Erica Bicknell, adding, “ but it was suggested that the Burris Tire Harvest 50 Twenty Five Special would flourish at a different part of the season … with July 4th falling on a Tuesday, Monday July 3rd’s scheduled date we think will allow US and Canadian race teams alike -  a better opportunity to travel.”

With the Burris Tire Summer Heat 50 Twenty Five tentatively set for Monday July 3rd, the regular Tuesday for that week will be only used as a rain date.

The 2006 Kart Weekly Racing Series Schedule will have 9 dates planned for both the Spring and Summer Series which will combine to determine the overall Original Pizza Logs Season Championships for the RCM Racing Equipment Junior 1, Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2, Best Fuels and Lubricants Junior Restricted Heavy, KC Auto Parts Senior Light and Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Senior Medium divisions.

Once again the Novice Division karters will run heats only for the first part of the season. Features will be added once school is out for the summer.

After the RCM Racing Equipment/Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Kart School takes to the track, two Open Practice Nights are scheduled for Tuesday April 25th and Tuesday May 2nd before the Spring Series Opener kicks off the season Tuesday May 9th.

Dates will soon be announced for the School that offers something for karters of all levels.

For the second straight year, Merrittville Speedway’s Kart Track was resurfaced since the 2005 season concluded. “After the major reworking last fall,” relates Bicknell, “ all we had to do this year was a little maintenance.”
